The United States of America Sojourn: Washington

28 June

5 PM: A drive on the highway to Washington- the busiest highway in the USA. The sun and the clouds keep playing hide and seek resulting in the occasional downpour.
As per US law, vehicles have got to keep their headlights on, if their wipers are on - funny isn't it?

8 PM: Check in at Hotel Sheraton Reston, Virginia. After a tiring journey, it had to be a quick dinner and hit the sack. Good night.

29 June

9 AM: Off to Luray Caverns,
ancient scientific caves in Virginia. Plenty of stalactites, stalagmites and column formations. They maintain various shapes like the Cinderella's castle, fish market, a python, etc...An experience worth treasuring.
Next was a vintage car exhibit that is housed in the same complex.

1 PM: A pizza buffet at Cici's that included soft drinks- popularly called 'soda' by the Yankees, and salads, was yet another American-styled meal that would have been gorged by my kids.

3 PM: A guided city tour takes us through the Heritage buildings, Government offices that included The Capitol,
Capitol
White House, Lincoln Memorial,
Lincoln Memorial
Korean Memorial, and
Korean Memorial
Pentagon
Pentagon
The Vietnam Memorial has the names of the martyrs inscripted on its walls.

Someone has very truly said "Freedom is not free".

9 PM: A brief shop at Walmart followed by a Gala dinner at the Hotel ended another day in the US.

30 June

9 AM: A visit to the Air and Space Museum
included a 45 min 3D show of the Hubble and our Milky Way.

1 PM: Its now lunch time and time for a Chinese meal at China Buffet. Another feast for those who can shed their inhibitions. Chicken wings, prawns, fried fish etc amongst the regular stuff and Fried Tilapia and Mussel for those wouldn't mind trying the exotica.

2 PM: On our way to Atlantic City. Thus ends our Washington sojourn.
